Two Month Well Visit

Thursday, March 12, 2009

Well, I went to see Dr. Pease yesterday ... and boy was that a rough doctor's visit.

It started out really well. Mommy and Daddy stripped me down and we went to check my weight, height, and head circumference. I weigh 12 lbs 6 oz, I've grown to 24 inches, and my big pumpkin head is 42.5 cm round. I'm in the 7oth percentile for weight and the 90th for height and head circumference. Mommy and Daddy definitely agree that "pumpkinhead" was a good nickname! =D

After that, Dr. Pease came in and checked me out. She was very impressed with how big I've gotten and she says I'm doing great! She gave Mommy and Daddy a lot of good answers for some questions they had, then she left and sent the nurse in to do her "dirtywork." This is the part I didn't like at all ... I got my first set of shots!!

The nurse gave me some Tylenol first, then I drank an oral vaccine for rotovirus. Then she stuck three needles in my legs ... two in my left and one in my right. It hurt a lot!! And I cried as loudly as I could. But once it was all over, Daddy picked me up and snuggled me. I cried for a little while longer, then Mommy fed me and I started feeling better. So I took a nap on the way home and slept for a while afterwards.

It was quite the day ... and I'm glad I don't have to do that again!! ...At least until May...

Two Months Old Today!

Monday, March 9, 2009

I'm getting to be such a big boy! Mommy and Daddy are so proud at how I'm growing and learning! We took this month's picture of me and Thumper, and this time Daddy helped, so it made it a lot easier for Mommy to snap my picture! Mommy's put the pictures together in a slideshow so everyone can see how big I've gotten since I was born!

Like I mentioned in another post, I've been learning lots of new things! Here's the low-down on my new skills over the past month!

~ I've not only become aware of the toys hanging from my bassinet and car seat, but I like to coo and talk to them now! Sometimes I don't like what they have to say tho, and I start to get upset.

~ My hands are pretty tasty and I like to suck on my fist every once in a while. But I definitely prefer boobie over my hand!!

~ I can hold my head up on my own for a good 30 seconds or more when I'm on Mommy or Daddy's shoulder or they have me sitting up. It's definitely nice to be able to look around at my world now without my head slumping to the side so easily!!

~ I smile all the time now (when I'm not having arguments with rattle, buggy, and bee, that is) and sometimes Mommy and Daddy can get a little chuckle out of me.

~ I've taken to kicking up a storm when I'm laying in my bassinet after a nap. Mommy thinks I'll be a good swimmer ... or maybe a kick boxer!! She wants to get me some wrist and ankle rattles since I like to wave my arms and kick my feet so much!

My two month well visit is Wednesday, so I'll update with my weight and height and all that fun stuff! I thought I heard Mommy mention something about shots ... I'm gonna try to be brave, but I might just have to scream my little lungs out for a minute. We'll see!

Oh, and one last thing ... I got my new social security card in the mail today! And, of course, Mommy was so proud, she took a picture ... she didn't even wait for me to wake up to see it! lol She's such a funny Mommy. And don't worry ... she squidgied out the numbers so no one would use my new number!!

Doesn't this look a bit like a mugshot?

Talk to the Hand

Friday, March 6, 2009

Earlier this week Mommy caught me showing off some of my new skills. I'm growing bigger and smarter every day!

On my carseat I have some friends hanging from the handle bar: rattle, buggy, and bee. I've glanced up at them before, but never really had anything to say to them. That was, until a couple days ago. Mommy put me in my seat and I looked up at them and we had a very nice conversation. What Mommy doesn't know is that I've been practicing my conversation skills with my butterflies that she made for me. It is a lot easier to talk to them because when I'm laying in my bassinet they're floating there above me ... whereas in my carseat I have to look up to see rattle, buggy, and bee. Anyway ... I digress. Here's a video Mommy took of me having my first conversation with my new friends.

Also, Mommy noticed that I discovered my hands because I've been sucking on them, so she got a video of that too! Truthfully, they're not very tasty ... but it's still a neat feeling to put them in my mouth!

And lastly (yes, Mommy went a little crazy with the videos this week and I got behind on my blog!), I learned something new from Mommy over the weekend. She's probably going to regret this when I'm older ... but she taught me how to stick my tongue out. Now I like sticking it out all the time and when Mommy and Daddy stick their tongues out at me, it makes me giggle. They look so silly! But I love them lots and they're always teaching me new, fun things every day!
